Saline, MI June 15, 2007 – Saline Lectronics has invested in new technology to enhance their printed circuit board (PCB) assembly process. An Orbotech Symbion P36 solder paste inspection system and an Orbotech Advantage S22 was recently added to their SMT process department. The Symbion P36 measures 100% volumetric solder paste coverage accurately at ultra fast speed while the Advantage S22 provides full coverage and analysis of all visible components and solder joints, with minimized false calls.
To maintain a competitive advantage in the PCB contract manufacturing industry, investing in new technology is essential. Circuit board components are becoming increasingly smaller, creating a greater need for accurate solder volume measurements. The Symbion P36 improves the circuit board assembly process from the very beginning, contributing to a lean manufacturing environment. More first pass yields and less waste allow Saline Lectronics to forward value on to the client. Mario Sciberras, president of Saline Lectronics says, "The Symbion P36 allows us to maintain competitive costs because of increased yields and throughputs. It has provided major positive improvements in the SMT process and product quality, especially for higher technology".
The Orbotech Advantage S22 automated optical inspection (AOI) system is currently being integrated at the end of the SMT assembly process. The S22 is Orbotech's highest performance AOI system using their advanced 3-D detection technology. The two Orbotech additions to Saline's SMT assembly process assure quality built products from start to finish.
